Starting a business is no easy feat, especially if you’re a woman. Not only are we life givers, we are entrepreneurs, business owners, creators in every way. We are anything we set our minds out to be. Below are what I think are the top five women-owned businesses that are taking over Tampa Bay. Take a look to see how these entrepreneurs are changing the business world:
1. Seventh Avenue Apothecary
Seventh Avenue Apothecary is an all-women-owned family business that produces high-quality, locally-sourced candles made entirely by local artisans. Started more than four years ago, Seventh Ave. Apothecary candles burn 40% longer than wax candles, with nearly 2,000 candles made daily. Here, at Seventh Ave. Apothecary, family members of all ages come together in making this a strong family-oriented business.
2. Book and Bottle
This up-and-coming book store isn’t your average book and coffee shop. At this store, not only is there coffee but a wine bar as well. The owner, Terra Dunham, wanted to create a quiet and safe place for people to relax and enjoy the company of good people. At Book + Bottle it’s their mission to work hard in curating a delightful reading, drinking, and shopping experience.
3. Lex & Co. Boutique
Here at Lex & CO. their goal is all about fashion and family. Alexa and her mother Ana founded Lex & Co. for the sole purpose of celebrating women of all shapes, sizes, and styles. This mother, daughter duo strives to provide the latest fashion trends at affordable prices. Making this fun, festive, and laid-back boutique the perfect one-stop shop for all your fashion needs.
4. Valhalla
Valhalla closet started when Owner Danielle Ferrari discovered the fashion industry is the number two polluter in the world’ next to fossil fuels of course. Her vision for Valhalla is to bring sustainable fashion to everyone. Valhalla is a member-only clothing boutique that allows members to borrow three items at a time. These items range from clothing, accessories, even shoes. The kicker, you are able to borrow these items for as long as you like with unlimited exchanges. This boutique definitely sounds like a game-changer to me.
